More LinksGrassroots LobbyingWhen you join The Coalition for Natural Health Grassroots Network, you become an effective natural health advocate and state political player—regardless of past political experience.
What is the CNH Grassroots Network? The CNH Grassroots Network is an organized state-by-state effort for members to get involved in their legislative process and to use the political clout they have as state constituents. CNH representatives communicate the benefits of natural health to their legislators, educate them regarding how certain legislation affects their income and workplace, and work together to affect meaningful healthcare reform. One goal of CNH is to mobilize members into effective, immediate legislative action by generating hundreds of phone calls, letters and faxes to key legislators. Your individual voice, when combined with hundreds of other natural health activists, is amplified within a powerful grassroots coalition. By stating your objectives clearly and professionally, legislators are made aware of natural health issues by constituents uniquely qualified to express their concerns. Your Role as a CNH RepresentativeWhile CNH monitors all state legislative action year-round, your involvement is to follow quickly up, once informed of state CNH Calls to Action. CNH representatives are asked to respond immediately by writing personal letters or making phone calls to specific legislators. You may also personally visit your state legislators and/or staff. While sample letters often are provided for you as a quide to organizing your thoughts, personal letters are one of the most effective grassroots lobbying techniques available. Must I Be an Experienced Political Player?No... just a voting constituent. State legislators share one powerful common trait—the urge to get re-elected. Their political future depends upon passing legislation favorable to your family and business concerns. Failing to let them know which policies help and hinder you will be detrimental both to natural health and their political careers. How Do I Benefit from CNH and Lobbying?Natural health activists gain tremendous insight into how the legislative process actually shapes and determines healthcare policy. In addition, your ability to interact with state legislators will lead to more prominent and strategic positions within your personal organizations, and increase your reputation for getting things done among your natural health peers.
